HIP JOINT RECALLS

Scientific studies have repeatedly called into question the failure rate of Metal on Metal (MoM) hip joints. As a result, litigation has commenced against most major manufacturers of Metal on Metal (MoM) hip joints by patients that have had to undergo revision surgery, removal of their implants, or multiple surgeries to correct issues.

In August of 2010, DePuy Orthopaedics announced the recall of their trademarked ASR XL ACETABULAR SYSTEM and ASR HIP RESURFACING SYSTEM. The ASR HIP RESURFACING SYSTEM was used outside the United States. The ASR XL ACETABULAR SYSTEM was available worldwide.

Since then, other Metal on Metal (MoM) hip implants have become the subject of scrutiny in mounting lawsuits involving their products. This includes:
